EPISODE 6 - THE HOTEL ROOM

This episode is the epitome of the Binky Cat legend.  Some of you may have heard about this story when it happened while others may be hearing it for the first time.  All sketches are based on true events that have actually happened.  Enjoy.

Zoe likes to vacation in Florida and can be found sipping fruity drinks on the porch while watching the sunset over the Gulf of Mexico.

Whenever we travel to Florida, we take Zoe with us on the plane.  She sits in her little carrier that fits perfectly under the seat in front of us.  (She counts as one of our carry-ons).

She does quite well on the plane and normally she does not make a sound. This trip was no different.

After 2.5 hours in the air, our plane started the final decent into Chicago.   However, it seemed to take an awful long time to land.  We actually were not landing but circling for some reason.   Finally, the pilot came on the loud speaker and announced that a pothole had shut down the airport and that our plane was running out of gas.  We could not continue to circle and had to be diverted to Ohio.

The idea was to land in Ohio, refuel, and fly back to Chicago.  The only problem was that the airport where we landed did not handle jumbo jets so they did not have the proper vehicle to push the aircraft back from the gate.  That meant we were staying the night in Ohio!

It was 2:00am in the morning by the time we got off the plane and finally made it into the hotel room.  As soon as I sat down to rest, my wife says  "You need to go out and find food for Zoe!"  I thought to myself, we are in the middle of nowhere.  Where am I going to find food for Zoe?

So I ventured out into the cold Ohio night and started talking to some of the other passengers that gathered outside of the hotel.  One of the guys had a baby who needed diapers and arranged for a ride to a nearby grocery store.  I asked if I could come along and he mentioned that he would pick up whatever I needed.  There was no way that I was going to tell him what I needed so I just sat down on the curb to think.  Just at that moment a police car drove up and the dad got in.  The police officer rolled down the window and asked me to come over. I asked if I could come along and the officer said sure, "get in the back seat!"

I had never been in the backseat of police car before and it was very uncomfortable.  I could hear the guys up front talking but could not make out what they were saying since the window divider was closed.  My mind began to wonder and I thought for sure I was going to be on the next episode of cops.

We finally made it to the grocery store and the dad got out and went in.  I could not get out because there were no door handles.  So I had to knock on the window to get the officers attention.  The officer got out and walked around to the other side of the car.  There were a few employees sitting outside as the officer opened the door.  As I got out, the officer said to the employees "Just so you we don't let all of our convicts go shopping in the middle of the night!"

After laughing, I went into the grocery store and found the cat litter and specifically searched for Zoe's favorite food.  I walked up to the cashier and noticed that the dad was already in line.  He had his baby's essentials and I just hoped that he did not turn around and notice what I was holding!

I finally made it back to the hotel room and gave Zoe her rations.  She proceeded to do her business and we were all eventually able to fall asleep.

I woke up the next morning to my wife shaking me.  "Where is Zoe?" she asked.   "What do you mean where is Zoe?"  I asked back.

Apparently in the middle of the night, Zoe decided to climb under the bed and bore a hole into the under side of the mattress.  Let me repeat she bored a hole into the underside of the mattress!

We were able to extract Zoe and started our trip back to Chicago.  Zoe wasn't so pleasant this time around!

The End.
